STREET FIGHTER is Everything I wanted it to be and more! (Quick Movie Review)
Forget rotten tomatoes and forget what your favorite YouTube says about it. The New Street Fighter is exactly what it says it is and not trying to pretend to be anything else but your new favorite video game movie ever made, ESPECIALLY if you've ever had the privilege of playing the actual arcade game.
Let's be straight. This movie is not going to win any awards and that's exactly why it's going to be a fan favorite and totally blowout streaming numbers when it's released for home viewing.
All the actors were perfectly cast in their characters. My low-key favorite was Cody Rhoades, who was dry but hilarious.
Flashback scenes are done in TRADITIONAL animation art, not this new 3D bubble mess for kids. The texture of the film gradient isn't too oldschool but definitely has that vibrant feel of 90s aesthetic. And if you're a fan of 90s alt rock, this soundtrack playlist is a must download. The creators of this film are EXACTLY aware of who their true audience is.
If you have sensitive ears or are too young, the jokes might not land with you, but I laughed OUT LOUD the whole time.
By the time the movie ended, on the best cliffhanger ever, the popcorn bucket was empty and I was ready for updates on part two asap.
Most importantly, rewarchability on this movie is THROUGH THE ROOF. I might have to dust off the DVD player and purchase a physical copy to actually own, since digital is only a lease to watch now.
