Pearls and Coffee Cups

On days when it suddenly feels like a Friday

It's Thursday here, early AM, but when my eyes fluttered (yes, fluttered! like in a fairytale), I instinctively felt that happy, bold sensation of a crisp Autumn Friday morning. The excitement of wrapping up a week of productivity and fending off internal monologues of frustration from stalled productivity flowered through my senses.

At some point between bathroom and coffee I realized (a light mental note suddenly taped itself to my forehead) it was not quite Friday.

Are you suureee?, I questioned myself. In my head of course, only crazy people talk to themselves out loud. Just kidding, this was definitely a vocal question that I both asked and answered, because...I live in the big year of 2026, and reality keeps bending, so it's best to ask out loud and test the seams. "Yup," my reply was a gentle declarative statement. The conversation then switched to internal mode.

So why did I wake up with relief and glee? What had I done yesterday that was so different than everyday before that?

The answer arrived quicker than I had anticipated.

Intentional

Yesterday I had this profound intentional feeling and motive. Despite all the distractions that tried to creep in throughout the day (they're constructing every street in the quarter mile at once, no one is answering my question in a work email copied to four people, the boiler is being fixed and, oh, the autumn wind blew down a section of the vinyl fence, hooray), I had set my mind to creating a blog post and video amount the arising agentic wars between Meta and Amazon (see previous post). It was a topic I found both intriguing and relative to contemporary life. While I only use Instagram (for cat videos, of course) and have put myself into Amazon withdrawal (since arriving at the head-tilting realization that they are, indeed, one of the Umbrella Corps of the world), I know this is a side-squabble that will most definitely have larger impacts on e-commerce (maybe commerce overall) sooner than we think. Best keep an eye on that tussle.

I digress, again.

Circling back. My feeling of relief and happiness was in accomplishing a goal I found important to myself above all. All written, recorded, and posted before bed. I slept well, after rubbing my feet with giddiness under the covers. I dreamed light (no falling out of the plane tonight!). I woke satisfied and centered. This, my true self felt that Friday feeling.

If only everyday ended and began that way.

Happy Frid---Thursday--- Everyone.
